Biography

Julia is a graduate of Weber High School and is currently attending Weber State University. She desires to become a broadcast journalist with a political emphasis. While in High School, Julia was active in a number of athletic organizations, including the water polo team, track team, and cross-country team, Chamber Choir and the seminary council. As a member of the cross-country team, she served as team captain and was also a state finalist in the Utah Cross Country meet. Her interest in running continues to this day as she is the organizer and producer of the annual Fitness Fun Run in North Ogden and the Marketing Director of the KJZZ/Deseret Morning News Marathon.

She is a talented vocalist and an accomplished pianist. At age 12, she started an all-girl band. She has performed in a variety of musicals, including a lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and more recently the role of Lola in Damn Yankees. She has performed for the homecoming of the troops from Iraq at Fort Douglas and Hill Air Force Base. She has also entertained the fans at the Raptors minor league baseball games, ReAL Salt Lake professional soccer games, and the Utah JAZZ NBA games. In addition to her musical appearances, she has had extensive modeling opportunities with such designers as Jovoni.

Julia is an active member of her community. She has been on the board of the Weber County Fair, a member of Action for Healthy Kids, and a volunteer at the Ogden-Weber Action Center in the Youth Connections department. She has emceed the Cami Awards for the State of Utah. Julia was also the Spokesperson for Gold Medal Schools from 2005 to 2007, a program of the Utah Department of Health whose mission is to create opportunities for students to eat healthy, be active and stay tobacco free. In addition to her community work, Julia has experience working as a hiring supervisor for Kelly Services, as administrative assistant to the State of Utah Speaker of the House, and as a bridal consultant for Dawn’s Bridal and Ivy Lane Reception Center and is currently the host of the Community Calendar on Utah’s 24 TV.

Julia competed in the Miss America 2006 pageant, and won a Preliminary Swimsuit award.
