Sommer Isdale must have sensed that it was her destiny to become Miss Texas Teen USA. After being named first runner-up as a 14 year-old in the Miss Texas Teen 2006 Pageant, Sommer returned the next year and defeated a field of 151 outstanding young women to win the coveted crown and title of Miss Texas Teen USA 2007.
With boundless energy and enthusiasm, the 15-year-old high school sophomore enjoys a wide range of interests, activities, and accomplishments. An honors student, she was elected to the 2006 National Society of High School Scholars and is part of her school’s Gifted and Talented Program. She is a member of the Speech and Debate Club and is a Student 2 Student campus leader.
Rivaling her academic achievements, Sommer’s athletic abilities are both notable and varied. She holds a first degree Black Belt in Hapkido, is a level 6 gymnast, swims competitively, has studied dance for twelve years, and also enjoys volleyball and track. For Sommer, “it’s all about team – together everyone achieves more!” She backs her school’s teams as a varsity All Star Cheerleader, and in December 2006, her image graced the cover of American Cheerleader Magazine.
In addition to being a full-time student, Sommer helps out with her family business, does a bit of modeling, and has appeared on the Discovery Channel and on Animal Planet. An admirer of Coco Chanel’s style, work ethic and design, Sommer enjoys seeing her own articles on fashion printed in her school’s monthly newsletter. She loves “accessorizing” and, with 118 pairs of shoes, might be considered a “shoe freak”!
Sommer also finds time for community service, lending her support as a volunteer at senior centers, the Salvation Army, a soup kitchen, and student tutoring programs.
She resides in Harker Heights with her parents, Shawn and Tina Isdale. In addition to attending school, Sommer will spend the next several months acting as a goodwill ambassador, making appearances on behalf of sponsors and charitable organizations, and preparing for the MISS TEEN USA® competition.
